 This paper presents an overvoltage mitigation method with integrated minimum-loss discontinuous PWM (MLDPWM) in SiC inverter systems. Overvoltage causes are explained for SiC inverter systems with long transmission lines. The proposed method mitigates overvoltage in SiC inverter systems with long transmission lines by adjusting the PWM duty cycle and preserves the volt–second balance of the reference voltage in each switching period. This prevents output quality degradation during reference voltage modulation for overvoltage reduction, and reduces semiconductor device and load voltage stress, thereby enhancing system reliability. The proposed integrated MLDPWM method improves the total harmonic distortion (THD) of the output current. The validity of the proposed method is verified through simulations.
