 This paper presents an overvoltage suppression method for single-inverter dual-parallel (SIDP) PMSM drives using a PWM scheme. The mechanism of voltage reflection is first examined in conventional single-inverter single-motor systems to establish a foundational understanding of overvoltage generation. A software-oriented PWM technique is then introduced, designed to suppress terminal overvoltage by leveraging the analytical insights derived from this mechanism. In SIDP PMSM systems, when conventional PWM techniques are applied, differences in power cable lengths between the two motors can cause asymmetric voltage reflections, which in turn distort the reference voltages and degrade overall system performance. Conventional PWM approaches often fail to compensate for these discrepancies, resulting in increased voltage stress and potential insulation damage. To address these limitations, the proposed method synthesizes modified reference voltages that account for line length differences, thereby alleviating waveform distortion and ensuring balanced voltage delivery. The technique requires no additional hardware, making it well-suited for compact and costsensitive applications. Simulation results validate the effectiveness of the proposed approach under varied line configurations.
