This paper investigates software-based techniques as alternatives to hardware filters for overvoltage mitigation in inverter systems with SiC modules. The RLC circuit used as a hardware filter is designed based on high-frequency cable modeling. The pulse elimination technique (PET) and maximum minimum pulse technique (MMPT) algorithms are analyzed as software-based techniques for overvoltage mitigation. It is analyzed how the effectiveness of RLC filters varies with the cable length. The degree of overvoltage mitigation obtained through software-based techniques is evaluated. The validity of software-based techniques as alternatives to hardware filters for overvoltage mitigation in inverter systems with SiC modules is demonstrated through simulations and experimental results.
