This paper analyzes power losses with various reduction methods for DC-link capacitor ripple current in three-level neutral-point
clamped (NPC) inverters. The small voltage vector that generates the maximum ripple current in 3-level inverter is separated in three
directions to reduce the ripple current. The heat loss for each voltage vector is calculated and compared using the ripple current
that changes according to each voltage vector. The heat loss for each voltage vector is calculated and compared using the ripple
current that varies according to each voltage vector. The effectiveness of the study is verified by PSIM simulations.
