 This paper proposes a voltage-vector-generalized variable-switching-frequency discontinuous PWM for overvoltage mitigation. The overvoltage mechanism caused by voltage reflection is analyzed. The required switching frequency for overvoltage mitigation in each discontinuous PWM interval is analytically derived. Generalization of the variable switching frequency is performed based on the voltage vector diagram. The validity of the presented voltage vector diagram is verified through simulation and experimental results.
