​This thesis proposes a predictive current selection method for copper loss minimization in single-inverter dual-parallel (SIDP) interior permanent magnet synchronous motor (IPMSM) drives. The proposed method determines the d-axis current by predicting the copper losses for three candidates in the next control period and selecting the candidate with the minimum predicted value. The three candidates are generated by adding or subtracting a current increment from the present value. The current increment is adaptively adjusted, enabling fast convergence and stable tracking toward the optimal operating point. The control process is intuitive and easy to interpret, and therefore does not require complex mathematical techniques such as the Lagrange multiplier method. Under various load torque conditions, synchronized motor speeds are maintained while the minimum copper loss trajectory is stably tracked. Moreover, the copper loss minimization performance is effectively preserved even in the presence of parameter variations and abrupt load changes. The effectiveness of the proposed method is validated through simulation and experimental results.
