This paper selects the initial current determination considering load torque during I-F operation of IPMSM. Making stable I-F operation, the proposed determination applies an initial current offset and adds a current component proportional to the reference speed to secure sufficient torque against the load. The theory's validity is verified by comparing the starting characteristics with different initial current determination under varying load conditions using PSIM simulations.
