This paper proposes the zero-voltage switching (ZVS) bidirectional dc-dc converter (BDC) with an auxiliary circuit. The proposed BDC
can achieve the ZVS using an auxiliary
circuit to improve the efficiency of the BDC at buck and boost operations. The
supplies the optimal energy to perform
the ZVS of the main switches. The auxiliary circuit consists of back-to-back
inductor, and two capacitors. The
resonant inductor of the small size and the auxiliary switch with the low rated
voltage can be used.
The zero-current switching (ZCS) turn on
and turn off operation of the auxiliary switches are possible. The proposed
scheme has a look-up table for supplying
the optimal energy to achieve the ZVS operation of the main switches. The
properly adjusts the turn-on time of the
auxiliary switch according to the required load current. The proposed BDC is
the results of PSIM simulation and an experiment in a 3-kW ZVS BDC system.
