This thesis proposes a torque ripple reduction method of Direct Self Control (DSC) for an Open-End Winding Interior Permanent Magnet Synchronous Motor (OEW-IPMSM) drive. Conventional DSC with torque hysteresis controller has the advantage of fast torque response and low switching frequency. However, conventional DSC has the disadvantage of controlling the stator flux trajectory in a regular hexagon for low switching frequency, resulting in a large stator flux ripple, and applying a torque hysteresis controller, resulting in a large torque ripple. This thesis presents the predictive torque control based on the OEW- IPMSM mathematical model to reduce torque ripple. Furthermore, consider the flux trajectory control utilizing the multi-level effect of dual inverters. The effectiveness of the proposed DSC method has been verified through simulation and experimental results.
