This paper presents indirect-matrix- converter (IMC) for permanentmagnet synchronous-motor (PMSM) drives using improved torque
predictive control (TPC). The IMC does not require capacitors in the DC-link, which makes it possible to reduce the volume of system
unlike typical system of the AC-DC-AC power conversion. The IMC has advantages which are sinusoidal waveform in input-output
current and high-power density. Therefore, researches in the IMC for PMSM drives using various torque control methods have been
actively studied. In this paper, the IMC for the PMSM drives using the improved TPC is proposed. The ripple component of the
torque of the PMSM is declined by the proposed method. also, the dynamic torque response is improved compared with the
conventional torque control methods. The performance of the proposed method is verified by the results of the PSIM simulation
tool.
