This paper proposes an improved model predictive control (MPC) method used a space vector modulation for an active neutral point
clamped (ANPC) grid-connected inverter system. The proposed method is the improving algorithm for the output current ripple, also
this method has smaller current ripple than the conventional MPC. The proposed MPC method uses a subdivision technique to
improve the performance of the finite set MPC (FS-MPC). In conventional MPC for ANPC, there are many irregular frequency
components in output current, and it leads to increasing not only the total harmonic distortion (THD) of output current but also the
switching losses. However, using the proposed method, it can be reduced not only the output current ripple but also the losses
balance of switches. This proposed method consists of 2 stages as follows: The first is a current controller that controls the output
current. The seconds is a control method that can evenly distribute the losses of the switches. Simulation is conducted to verify the
proposed method, and verified the performance.
