This paper proposes the direct torque control (DTC) of interior permanent magnet synchronous motors (IPMSMs) for fast dynamic response with
constant switching frequency. The conventional DTC is constructed based on two hysteresis controllers with flux and torque errors as input . Switching
frequency of the DTC using the hysteresis torque and flux controllers is not constant. The torque regulator of the DTC with constant switching
frequency consists of one proportional integral (PI) torque controlle r and one triangular wave carrier. Compared to the conventional DTC, the DTC with constant switching frequency has fixed switching frequency but it has the poor dynamic response. In this paper, dynamic response of the DTC with
constant switching frequency is improved by varying the bandwidth of PI torque controller. The effectiveness of the proposed DTC with constant
switching frequency is verified through simulation results.
